Social Housing

Social Housing is rental housing subsidized by the municipal and federal government for people with low incomes, seniors, or people with special needs who can live, sometimes with support, in the community.

The City of Windsor is the service manager for Social Housing Programs in Windsor and Essex County. The Housing Services Department is responsible for developing, maintaining and evaluating a sustainable social housing stock that meets the needs of Windsor and Essex County residents. There are 8750 units including over 40 social housing providers in Windsor and Essex County.
