Adjustment of Boundaries

In the years following the restructuring of Essex County, it was recognized that there were no large parcels of serviced industrial land within the region available for large industrial developments needed to create jobs and growth within the region.

The following 4 events took place:

  • May 2002 the County of Essex, Town of Tecumseh and City of Windsor negotiated a boundary adjustment agreement for the transfer of approximately 6,300 acres of land from the Town of Tecumseh to the City of Windsor
  • October 2002 the agreement was presented to Chris Hodgson, Minister of Municipal Affairs for approval
  • December 5, 2002 the Minister issued a Minister’s Order for the approval of the boundary adjustment
  • January 1, 2003 the boundary adjustment took effect.
