Warden of Essex County

The Head of Council of the County of Essex is known as the Warden. Section 1 of the County Procedure By-law No.08-2010 established the term of office of the County Warden to be the same as the term of Council, therefore, it is a four-year term. An election for the County Warden is held the second Wednesday of December in a year in which a Municipal Election has been held. From among members of County Council, nominations for the position of Warden are received. The Warden is then elected by the members of County Council by secret ballot.

The inaugural meeting of Essex County Council and election for the Warden of the County of Essex was held on Wednesday, December 8th, 2010.

Tom Bain, Mayor of the Town of Lakeshore, was elected Essex County Warden for the term December 1, 2010 to November 30, 2014.  Warden Bain previously held the position of Warden for Essex County from December 1992 to November 1993.
