Corporate Services / Finance & Information Technology Department
Corporate Services is responsible for the financial affairs and information technology that are woven into virtually every decision affecting the operations of the Corporation of the County of Essex. It is the mission of Corporate Services to assist all departments in achieving their service goals and objectives through the responsible stewardship of corporate financial and technological resources in accordance with the by-laws, resolutions and directives of County Council, and the laws and regulations of the Province of Ontario.
The provisions of the Municipal Act, the Municipal Affairs Act, and other pertinent legislation govern the financial stewardship of the organization. Further, the department is cognizant of legislation specific to the operations of other County departments and the fundamental financial guidelines of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Corporate Services provides financial policy, treasury, risk management, accounting, budget preparation, financial monitoring, information technology services, geographical information services (GIS), management of the Civic Centre and Community Services.
