Accessibility Plans for the County of Essex
The Corporation of the County of Essex adopted its first Accessibility Plan in September 2003. Each year, County Council adopts a new Accessibility Plan for the Corporation.
Essex County Council remains committed to ensuring that the facilities, services and programs provided by the County are available to all residents including people with disabilities. The process of identifying barriers is constant. New initiatives continue to be identified and will continue to be implemented in each subsequent year’s Accessibility Plan.
A major architectural barrier that was addressed in the 2004 Accessibility Plan was the removal of the exterior lift and construction of a new ramp providing barrier free access to the Essex County Civic Centre.
