Essex County Commitment to Accessibility

Since September of 2003, when the first Accessibility Plan for the Corporation of the County of Essex was adopted by Essex County Council, the Corporation has been making every effort to implement the initiatives approved in the annual Accessibility Plans.

The Council of the Corporation of the County of Essex remains committed to ensuring that the facilities, services and programs provided by the County are available to all residents including people with disabilities. The process of identifying barriers is constant. New initiatives continue to be identified and are incorporated into the annual Accessibility Plan.

Commencing in 2007, the Accessibility planning process was incorporated to more effectively coincide with the budgeting process.  Accessibility Plans for the County of Essex will continue to be prepared in conjunction with the annual budget cycle and presented for adoption in March/April of each year.
