Asset Management Plan

An Asset Management Plan is a process that provides for the operation, maintenance, upgrade and ultimately disposal and/or replacement of physical infrastructure/assets. The process combines technical and financial management techniques over the lifecycle of the asset(s). The 3 objectives are to:

  • Maximize the benefits of the asset
  • Manage the risk associated with the asset
  • Provide appropriate levels of service to the public in a sustainable manner.

In order to get future funding from the Province, municipalities are required to develop an Asset Management Plan. They must also show that they are in compliance with all the relevant legislation.
