Walk, Ride, County Wide

family biking

CWATS is the County Wide Active Transportation System. When completed, CWATS will provide paved shoulders, cycle paths, off-road paths like multi-purpose trails, and shared roadways. Connecting people to active transportation facilities and places of interest around the towns of Essex County, leading to more active lifestyles, enabling us to "Walk, Ride, County Wide."

Just look for the blue CWATS signs along local roadways and paths to start leading a healthy, active lifestyle.

There are currently about 115 km of connected on-road and off-road facilities across the County of Essex. Another 600 km of facilities are still planned to be built in Essex County. Once completed, CWATS will connect people with all of our local towns, ERCA trails, and with routes in the City of Windsor and the Municipality of Chatham Kent.

CWATS will guide the construction of active transportation facilities over the next 20 years. CWATS plans on getting people informed on healthy living by making these paths and trails to give the opportunity to people to get active and enjoy the beautiful sights and sounds of Essex County.
