| The Human Resources division supports the achievement of the County of Essex’s goals and objectives by providing strategic human resources management solutions in the areas of recruitment and selection, employee and labour relations, job evaluation and pay equity, policy and procedure development, orientation and training, and occupational health and safety.
The County employs approximately 600 full-time, part-time and temporary staff. Positions are within our non-union group and four bargaining units which includes a Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) unit at the Sun Parlor Home, a CUPE unit at the Civic Centre which includes the paramedic group, an Ontario Nurses' Association (ONA) and a Teamster unit in Engineering/Road Maintenance.
The Department offers Human Resources support to allied agencies on a fee for service basis. In addition, Human Resources has provided various resources to local municipalities on labour related, compensation and health and welfare benefit issues.
