2010 Summer Student Positions

ESSEX-WINDSOR SOLID WASTE AUTHORITY

LABOURER

EWSWA has openings for three Summer Student Labourers at the Windsor Public Drop off Depot. Duties include directing traffic and assisting with the sale of compost. Must have a valid driver’s license and steel toed boots. Experience with operating a forklift or bobcat would be an asset.

SPECIAL PROJECTS ASSISTANT

EWSWA has one opening for a Summer Student Special Projects Assistant. Duties include assisting EWSWA staff with the creation of recycling programs for various sectors including apartments, local businesses, municipal buildings, parks, etc. Program of study majoring in Environmental Studies or Waste Management would be an asset. Must have a valid driver’s license and steel toed boots.

Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time University or College program and returning to school in September. The Student wage is $15.08 per hour, based on a 40 hour week, which may be scheduled from Monday to Saturday. The anticipated duration of employment is from May 2010 through August 2010. 

 

ESSEX COUNTY HIGHWAYS

ROADS MAINTENANCE LABOURER

Essex County Highways has openings for two Summer Student Roads Maintenance Labourers at their main depot located at 1941 Road 4E, RR#2, Kingsville. Duties include traffic control, cold patching, weed whipping and general labour/maintenance work. Hours of work are from 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. Must be familiar with Essex County roads, have a valid driver's license and steel toed boots. Must be physically fit for heavy lifting, prolonged standing etc. as well prepared with protective clothing and sunscreen for outdoor weather conditions.  Applicants must be enrolled in a full-time University or College program and returning to school in September. The anticipated duration of employment is from May 2010 through August 2010. The student starting wage is $16.24 per hour.
