The County of Essex is a municipal corporation of elected officials and employees working together to meet the challenges of today while respecting our past and preparing for our future.

County Government
The Corporation of the County of Essex is comprised of the seven lower tier municipalities. As an upper-tier municipality, the County of Essex is responsible for providing services that are common to all municipalities in Essex County thereby minimizing the need for duplicate services and administration. These services include Transportation Services, Libraries, Homes for the Aged, Planning Services, Emergency Management Coordination, Community Services, Land Ambulance and General Government Administration. As well, the County is a funding partner for regional services including: Social Services, Child Care, Social Housing, Public Health, Economic Development, Tourism and Property Assessment.
